Tools to Help You Be Well!

The quest to achieve wellness can be a bit intimidating, especially when there are so many components. It is hard to focus on everything that leads to health and happiness. It could be that your goal is drop the few pounds that you gained over the summer or to increase your cardiovascular endurance. Maybe you need to get a handle on the stress in your life. Or perhaps eating “cleaner” and consuming more water throughout the day tops your list of objectives. Everyone has tricks and tips that work for them. The key is to find out what works for you. Let’s face it … one person’s energizing 5:30 am workout routine is a nightmare for someone else!

The safest approach to achieving these wellness goals revolves around lifestyle changes. Making a few small changes in your day-to-day routine will lead to the greatest successes. And don’t be too hard on yourself. People in this day and age are busier than ever, and it’s hard work keeping track of everything you “should do”. One way that can help keep everything on track is to use technology to your advantage.

Today there are endless sources of information on the internet via websites, blogs and apps. It is difficult to sort out what is sound, reliable information and what is hocus pocus, so you must choose carefully and thoughtfully.   Although I only recently jumped on the technology bandwagon, my favorite app is “My Fitness Pal”.   There is a section for weight loss goals through exercise and food tracking. There are wonderful newsletters and blogs that have articles about every component of wellness. Need recipes incorporating more veggies, low-carb, or more protein? It’s in there! Intimidated by running a 10K? There are articles ranging from how to get started to how to increase your times to recovery after the race.   Want to gain strength in your upper body? Yep, there are blogs about that too! Need some mental stability or de-stressing? There are some great tips & tools to help you achieve these goals. You can access My Fitness Pal through your regular computer or via apps to your phone, so the information is always readily accessible with the swipe of your finger.
