This is the last in our series on our 4 different styles of yoga. ‘Last but not least’ is Svaroopa yoga. You don’t have to be able to pronounce it to do it! Svaroopa yoga is based in the principle of releasing the tensions in the muscles that attach along the front of your spine from your tailbone all the way up. These are your deepest muscles and your tightest tensions. When these muscles are released, the effects travel out through the rest of your body.
You may do the least number of poses in Svaroopa classes, with the most support, and poses held the longest. It is deceptively simple and gentle. The angles, support and repetition reach deeper and deeper for spinal decompression, the flow of your innermost energies, and effective relief.
If you are interested in core opening, deep stress release, help for your back, or if you are new to yoga, give Svaroopa classes a try.
Do more yoga.
